35 trees planted in India

A huge thank you to those who placed orders with us the past couple of months. It might not be much, but you've got to start somewhere! Our choice at One Tree Planted is always to 'Plant trees where they're needed most' and this time it's India.

India is a vast land full of contrasts. Moist and dry tropical forests, temperate and subtropical montane forests, alpine forests and mangrove forests are all found here. Recognized as one of the 17 “megadiverse” countries, around 8% of the world's flora and fauna is found in India, including species like Bengal Tigers. With nearly 3,000, India supports the largest population globally. Additionally, India's forests support the livelihoods of almost 275 million people. With sustainable agroforestry, countless communties can enjoy the environmental benefit of trees alongside the economic value of smallholder farming to make lasting and meaningful impact.

The species One Tree Planted are currently planting across India include fruit trees such as apricot, mango, banana, guava, jackfruit, lemon, moringa, lemon, papaya, pear, peach, pomegranate and many more. Moringa, papaya, and banana grow quickly and will provide food and fruit within 8-10 months of planting. Species like lemon, guava, apricot, pear, peach, and jujubes produce fruit within 3 years, but will ultimately provide a steady supply of food and income to small farmers in the long term. Despite the coronavirus, these tree plantings are directly impacting impoverished communities providing long-term fruit harvesting opportunities to farmers and villagers in these regions.

Through this initiative you've helped plant native fruit trees like mango, guava, citrus, jackfruit and pomegranate in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other Indian states, helping ensure greater food security for regional communities while contributing to the local economy.

In the coming two years, it is estimated the trees planted from these projects will positively impact 25,000 farmers and villagers. And we aren't even close to done yet! In 2021, we've already pledged to plant 1.5 million fruit trees.

Currently any 'eco' item in our shop plants one tree. So with your help we can help reforest the plant one tree at a time.

Thank you for making a difference.
